What I Learned at Charlotte Church's 'The Dreaming' Retreat.

As I write this, the moon is waning.

The waning moon is a time of release. A time to notice what has become too heavy to carry and to gently set it down.

It asks us: What are you ready to let go of?

For me, the answer is becoming clear.

In May, I spent a week as Artist-in-Residence at The Dreaming retreat, in Wales. Surrounded by an ancient Celtic woodland, waterfalls, and some truly remarkable women, I found myself having conversations that shifted something deep within me. Their encouragement, wisdom and belief in what I am creating gave me a renewed sense of purpose.

Again and again, I heard the same message reflected back to me:

The world needs more ritual.

The simple act of pausing, making a cup of tea, noticing the moon above us, and reconnecting with the rhythms that have guided humanity for thousands of years is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

The week also showed me something else.

For a long time, I have hidden behind the products, the tea, the ideas and the rituals. But Rootlight Rituals has reached a point where I need to let go of my fear of being seen.

Fear keeps us small.

Love expands us.

So I have decided to commit fully to the mission of Rootlight Rituals.

I am bringing in support with social media and stepping more visibly into the work. My hope is to share the wisdom of lunar living with more people and help others discover how profoundly life can change when we begin living in harmony with the moon's cycles.

Looking Ahead to Samhain

One of the most exciting developments is something I've been dreaming about for a long time.

To honour my Irish ancestry and our shared Celtic heritage, I am creating a seasonal subscription box inspired by the four Celtic festivals.

The first box will arrive at Samhain, the festival that marks the beginning of winter and the thinning of the veil between worlds.

This year Samhain falls during the waning moon, making it a particularly powerful time for reflection, remembrance and release.

Inside the inaugural Samhain box I hope to include:

  • Waning Moon Tea

  • A specially formulated Waning Moon Aura Spray

  • A Waning Moon Ritual Bath Oil

  • Seasonal reflections and ritual guidance

Everything will be designed to help you create a meaningful moon ritual at home.

Because when you honour the moon, you honour yourself.

You honour the tides, the seasons, and the waters of life that flow within you.

Wells, Water and the Land

Many of you know that alongside Rootlight Rituals, I have become fascinated by the forgotten wells and holy wells of Britain and Ireland.

To me, wells are more than historical curiosities. They are places where water, memory and story meet.

This year I have continued searching for lost wells, documenting them, clearing them, and helping bring attention back to these neglected places.

Most recently, I believe I have rediscovered the lost Holy Well of St Germanus at Rousham House and Gardens in Oxfordshire. I am currently in communication with Historic England to explore whether the site can be formally recognised for what it may once have been.

There is something deeply symbolic about restoring a forgotten well.

When a well becomes blocked, the water struggles to flow.

Perhaps the same is true in our own lives.

By clearing these places, I am reminded of the importance of clearing what blocks us too: old fears, old stories, old patterns.

The moon teaches us this lesson every month.

Let go.

Make space.

Begin again.

With gratitude, Miri x
